About this book

This volume describes the economic, social and environmental impacts of second homes as well as their planning implications and places such discussions within the context of contemporary human mobility. It represents the first major international analysis and review of second homes for over 25 years.

Hall C. Michael :

C. Michael Hall is Professor in Marketing at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand; Docent, Department of Geography, University of Oulu, Finland; and Visiting Professor, School of Business and Economics, Linnaeus University, Kalmar, Sweden. His key research interests include sustainability, tourism planning and policy, and global environmental change.

Müller Dieter K. :

Dieter K. Müller is Professor in Social and Economic Geography, Umeå University, Sweden. His research interests focus on issues related to tourism and local and regional development in rural and peripheral areas in northern environments.

Michael Hall is Professor of Tourism at the University of Otago, New Zealand.

Dieter K. Müller is Associate Professor, Department of Social and Economic Geography, Umeå University, Sweden. Both authors have research interests with respect to tourism and regional development, mobility, and tourism in peripheral areas.
