About this book

The Breviarium rerum gestarum populi Romani, presented here in a new German translation with brief commentary, was written in the 4^th century by a court official named Festus. The text is an example of the breviarium literature popular at the time, but in addition, it tells about the issues current at the time of its creation, particularly conflicts with the Parthian Empire along the eastern boundaries of the Roman Empire.
