This volume presents a series of empirical studies which focus on affectivity in relation to both individual learner differences, and language learning experiences, motivation and attitudes. The volume also elaborates on affectivity in various contexts of FL use and in different educational settings such as CLIL or e-learning.

Gabryś-Barker Danuta :

Danuta Gabryś-Barker is Professor of English at the University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland, where she lectures and supervises MA and PhD theses in applied linguistics and psycholinguistics, with a particular focus on second language acquisition and multilingualism. She has published numerous articles and books including The Affective Dimension in Second Language Acquisition (co-edited with Joanna Bielska, 2013) and Morphosyntactic Issues in Second Language Acquisition (2008). She is the co-editor of the International Journal of Multilingualism (Taylor & Francis) and the co-founder and the co-editor of the journal Theory and Practice of Second Language Acquisition (University of Silesia Press).

Bielska Joanna :

Joanna Bielska is involved in language teacher education programmes at the University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland and lectures on theories of second language acquisition, research methods in applied linguistics and the methodology of foreign language teaching. She has had a long-standing interest in the psychology of the language learner with special focus on the role of individual differences in SLA. Her current work revolves around the theme of self-efficacy in language learning and teaching.

Danuta GabryÅ?-Barker lectures in applied linguistics and second language acquisition at the University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland. Her main areas of interest are multilingualism and affectivity in SLA. Professor GabryÅ?-Barker has published numerous articles and two books Aspects of Multilingual Storage, Processing and Retrieval (2005) and Reflectivity in Pre-service Teacher Education (2012). She is the chief editor (together with Eva Vetter) of the International Journal of Multilingualism.
