This is the first German language work that presents biographies of all the Cardinals from the papacy of Pope Pius IX in 1846 through the end of the papacy of Pope Benedict XVI in 2012. The volume is amplified by introductions to the history of the College of Cardinals, to its mission and its standing in the Roman Catholic Church, establishing it as an essential reference work.
