About this book

Noam Chomsky applies a rational, scientific approach to disciplines as diverse as linguistics, ethics, and politics. In Chomsky Notebook, Cedric Boeckx and Norbert Hornstein tackle the evolution of Chomsky's linguistic theory. Akeel Bilgrami revisits Chomsky's work on freedom and truth, and Pierre Jacob analyzes his naturalism. Chomsky's own contributions include an interview with Jean Bricmont and an essay each on Edward Said and the natural world. Author / Editor information

Jean Bricmont is a theoretical physicist and professor at the Catholic University of Louvain. He has helped to make the political writings of Noam Chomsky known in France after years of blackout. He is the coauthor, with Alan Sokal, of Fashionable Nonsense: Postmodern Intellectuals' Abuse of Science.Julie Franck is assistant professor at the Laboratory of Experimental Psycholinguistics, University of Geneva. Her research concerns syntax in adults and children.
