About this book

In this volume, Thomas Erne presents the relationship between art and religion by looking at Schleiermacher’s aesthetics. He goes beyond Schleiermacher to also take a look at modern, autonomous art. In a dialogue with exemplary contemporary artworks, he inquires into the transcendental experience provided by contemporary art, in which the artworks themselves become "autonomous domains of meaning."
