About this book

Hair is the subject of much social controversy, but also the object of multiple forms of exploitation: It is resistant, yet always threatened in this potentiality – hair is precarious materiality. The volume make inquiries into poetics, practices, and functions of hair in literature and other media. Of interest are the poetological use of hair’s surplus materiality and hair as an operator in discourses of resistance.
