Katastrophen irritieren die Selbstverständlichkeit des Alltags. Als St. Lorenzen in der Steiermark am 21. Juli 2012 von einem Murenabgang verschüttet wird, beginnt nicht nur eine Phase der praktischen, sondern auch der kognitiven Bewältigung: Um die Katastrophe zu verstehen, müssen die Betroffenen auf bestehende Deutungsmuster zurückgreifen. Sandra Maria Pfister erschließt diese Deutungsmuster der Katastrophe anhand einer qualitativen Studie des Murenabgangs und analysiert ihre Einbettung in der institutionellen Ordnung des Katastrophenschutzes. Damit geht sie über eine inhaltliche Rekonstruktion jener Muster weit hinaus und lenkt den Blick auf die konflikthaften Macht- und Spannungsverhältnisse.

Sandra Maria Pfister, geb. 1991, ist Universitätsassistentin am Institut für Gesellschafts- und Sozialpolitik an der Johannes-Kepler-Universität in Linz. Sie hat Soziologie, Global Studies und Pädagogik an der Karl-Franzens-Universität in Graz studiert. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen im Bereich der Katastrophensoziologie.
