This book provides a comprehensive study of structural design and optimization of different truss structures for size, shape, and topology of structure. It describes truss optimization based on into three categories: size optimization, shape optimization, and topology optimization.

It also studies the performance of metaheuristic algorithms developed after 2011 for truss optimization problems. The results highlight the best approach to achieve the best performance of the structural design. Pseudo codes of all the methods are provided at the end of the book so that it can be used by the researchers, practitioners, and students to test it for different real-world systems.

1. Dr. Vimal Savsani

Dr. Vimal Savsani is working as a Professor at Canadore College, North Bay, Canada.  He has completed his Ph.D. in the field of mechanical design optimization and post-doctoral fellowship from Thompson Rivers University, BC, Canada. He has to his credit many reputed International journal and conference papers. He has authored two books titled "Mechanical design optimization using advanced optimization techniques",  and "Thermal System Optimization: A Population-Based Metaheuristic Approach"published by Springer. He has more than 18 years of academic experience. His research area includes Advanced meta-heuristics, mechanical system design and optimization, renewable energy, structure optimization and wind farm layout optimization.

2. Dr. Ghanshyam G. Tejani

Dr. Ghanshyam G. Tejani is working as an assistant professor at GSFC University, Vadodara, India. He has completed his Ph.D. in the filed of engineering optimization from P.D. Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, India. His thesis titled, "Investigation of advanced metaheuristic techniques for simultaneous size, shape, and topology optimization of truss structures". He has to his credit many reputed International journal papers in Elsevier, Taylor and Fransis, ASCE,  and Springer. He has more than 15 years of academic experience. His research area includes advanced metaheuristics, mechanical system design and optimization, and structure optimization.

3. Dr. Vivek Patel

Dr. Vivek Patel is working as an associate professor at P.D. Energy University, Gandhinagar, India. He has completed his Ph.D. in the filed of thermal system optimization from S.V. National Institute of Technology, Surat, India. His thesis titled, "Design Optimization of Thermal Systems Using Advanced Optimization Techniques". He has to his credit many reputed International journal papers in Elsevier, Taylor and Fransis, IMechE and Springer. He has more than 20 years of academic experience. He has one book to his credit titled  "Thermal System Optimization: A Population-Based Metaheuristic Approach" published by Springer. His research area includes thermal system design, advanced optimization techniques, solar thermal systems and energy management.
